AEH is an active investor in high-conviction assets across a range of sectors including professional services, healthcare, innovation & technology, media, energy & resources, retail and agribusiness.
Investing our balance sheet and reputation in private equity, listed and unlisted businesses, our investment thesis involves direct, long term positions, working with boards and management to deliver strategy and create value.
AEH was a foundation investor in the MGB Equity Growth private equity funds and subsequent Investec Wentworth funds.
We have a long-standing commitment to Australian agriculture, particularly merino wool. Our rural properties west of Orange carry forward a family tradition that dates back four generations, to when brothers Joseph and George Playoust immigrated to Australia in 1892 with the renowned French wool-brokerage firm, Henri Cauillez et Cie.
AEH also invests selectively in listed and unlisted property equities to fulfil financial and strategic goals. Examples include the Village Building Company, which gave us an exposure to residential housing and subdivision markets in Queensland, the ACT and NSW, and Gresham Property Funds.
