Nicholas Playoust is the Managing Director of AEH Retirement Living and a main board director of AEH Group. He is responsible for the management and growth of the AEH Retirement Living business, including project development, village operations, sales and marketing.
He is the Vice President of the Retirement Living Council, the peak national body for the retirement village industry. He is chair of the Code and Accreditation Committee, a joint initiative of the Property Council of Australia (PCA) and Leading Age Services Australia (LASA). The committee is overseeing the creation and implementation of the new Retirement Living Code of Conduct and the Australian Retirement Village Accreditation Scheme (ARVAS). Together these initiatives are setting new industry standards in customer service.
Nicholas’ various directorships give him broad experience across various investment classes including property, private equity, agribusiness and early stage entrepreneurial small caps.
He has a particular passion for housing, seniors’ housing and innovative ways to provide accommodation to the current and next generation of senior Australians, with an emphasis on quality, service and affordability. He also has a keen interest in urban planning and architecture.
Nicholas has previously held positions within Peddle Thorp & Walker, Mirvac, Walter Barda Architects and Brooks Murray Architects of London.
Nicholas holds a Bachelor of Architecture (Hons) and Bachelor of Science (Architecture) from Sydney University. He has completed courses at the London School of Economics in Microeconomics and Accounting and is currently undertaking a Certificate IV in Property Services (Real Estate).
Nicholas was a non-executive Director of AEH from 1995 and Executive Director since 2003.
