Residents’ story: siblings who are neighbours

“The best move we’ve ever made”: Our Journey to Sugar Valley Lifestyle Estate
Jos Colvin and Bill Kennedy, siblings and neighbours

Most people these days don’t know who their neighbours are, but brother and sister Bill and Jos go way back. “Some people might try to get away from the family, but we’ve come back together for the company and to help each other out,” says Bill.

“We’ve spent most of our lives in country NSW and the Hunter and couldn’t think of a better place to live – everything we need is here, including friends and obviously family!” says Jos. Not to be left out, Bill pipes in, “Jos and I used to ride the same horse to get back and forth from school, so we’re used to sharing!”

Jos is a retired nurse from Royal Newcastle Hospital and an active Probian and Bill is a former coal miner and Liddell Power Station employee. Both lost their partners and now, along with a strong network of friends, spend more time together than ever.

“You won’t stop me from walking the dogs around the golf course and enjoying the local area.” says Bill.

“We are truly excited about the next chapter in our lives,” says Jos.

“We’ve made great friends with our neighbours and can really see the benefit of staying independent in a dedicated community of like-minded people.”
